The Board had conducted two closed sessions, in addition to a short public meeting. It welcomed two public health hires supporting HIV services and community resilience, and approved a proclamation for Domestic Violence Awareness Month.   • The meeting began with a lengthy closed session relating to a personnel matter, in which no action was taken. Commissioner Jacobs then acknowledged Catherine Ferrell's 113th birthday and shared that she left a birthday message for Ferrell on behalf of the Board. Ferrell is the oldest living person in North Carolina and among the oldest in the world.
  • Director of Public Health Jenkins introduced the County's new HIV navigator, Brad Casey. Bridget Nelson was also introduced as the County’s new Adverse Childhood Experiences and Resilience Coordinator.
  • Chair Allam announced a proclamation designating October to be Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which was then quickly passed.
