The cameras are to be deactivated by Oct. 30, the department will confirm they’ve stopped reading Nov. 2, data tied to active investigations is retained through Dec. 1, and the vendor removes its equipment by the end of December. City Manager James Parajon said staff will return Nov. 10 with a possible resolution setting guiding principles for evaluating any new surveillance technology: oversight, audits, transparency and community engagement, and city ownership of data.
